Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan
HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan is a leading advocate for science as a catalyst for change. She is a dedicated science enabler in the Arab World where so many challenges urgently require science-based solutions. The Princess has worked for almost two decades to help foster an environment for home-grown solutions to be found for pressing issues facing the region.
HRH was appointed Chair of the Board of the Amman Baccalaureate School in August 2021 on the retirement of Chair and Co-founder, HRH Princess Sarvath El Hassan. Princess Sumaya had joined the Board in 2005 and has been consistently active in the school’s daily and strategic management. HRH also served as Head of the ABS Human Resources Sub-Committee. In 2009, she became a member of the Jordan Council of Higher Education. HRH believes strongly in the importance of creative education from the earliest stages to drive positive change in the region.
HRH is President of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), Chair of the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), and Vice-Chair of the Jordan Museum.
In June 2017, the Director-General of UNESCO appointed HRH as UNESCO Special Envoy for Science for Peace. This unique honour recognises HRH’s efforts to combine science and research with cultural heritage to foster peace, opportunity and prosperity. Princess Sumaya was Chair of World Science Forum 2017, which was held in Jordan under the theme of ‘Science for Peace’. Under the patronage of of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
In August 2020, the Director General of UNESCO appointed HRH as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Science for Peace.

She possesses thorough expertise across sectors and industries gained through various Ministerial Positions; Board of Directors positions; and Executive positions; where she played an active role in transforming organizations and people while delivering tangible results and record revenue increases across the Middle East and Africa; where her Professional Coaching abilities played a major role throughout the journey
H.E holds a first-class Honors BSc in Finance from Yarmouk University; a Certified Management Accountant from the USA; A Global Senior Management Certificate from both University of Chicago and IE University in Spain. Effective Leadership Certificate from Columbia University; a Certified Professional Coach form the World Coach Institute- USA.
And recently; the Design thinking and business creativity Certificate
from INSEAD.
Mary Tadros
Mary is a Senior Manager, Development, Recognition and eAssessment with the IB. She is a a lead IB educator with extensive experience as a workshop leader, consultant, team leader, visiting team chair and programme and evaluation leader for school evaluation visits . She also chairs New England Association of schools and colleges (NEASC) visiting teams to accredit schools internationally.
She worked at the Amman Baccalaureate School for 25 years and the last two posts held were head of senior school and head of Middle Years School.
She worked for two years as the senior education advisor at the office of her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdulla and for 12 years Academic Programs Advisor for Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) working on Pre-Service and In-Service teacher education programmes in Jordan and the region.
Maher Kaddoura
Maher Kaddoura is a management consultant, serial entrepreneur, angel investor, social change maker, public speaker and adventurer. Upon retirement as Accenture-Middle East managing partner, he established a number of professional services firms which became regional leaders in their relative sectors.
Maher established Al-Jude NGO in 1999 and launched a number of social programs focused on road safety, youth leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and art and culture. He is also a visionary who believes in achieving more with less for many using his own theory “The Falafel Theory”.
He served on a variety of boards worldwide including University of Chicago – public policy school , research center on aging, youth volunteerism, entrepreneurship and investment funds . He is a public speaker and storyteller. He was recognized by King Abdullah II, Sheikh Mohammad Ben Rashid, United Nations and Ernest & Young. He enjoys street and wild life photography, travelled to more than 60 countries , 100 cities, trekked to Everest Base Camp, the Arctic, Alaska, Jungles of Africa and the mountains of South America.
Tamara Al Qadi
Tamara Marei Al-Qadi is a wife and mother of four who was born and raised in Amman, Jordan and completed her Civil Engineering degree from The University of Jordan. She is a strong believer in giving back to the community, be it socially or otherwise. Tamara takes active roles in non-governmental organizations such as the Young Muslim Women’s Organization, and the International Inner Wheel Organization.
Her involvement with Amman Baccalaureate School dates back to 1998, totaling 20 years. Her engagement with ABS started off as a class mom who regularly participated in the school’s various activities. Today she serves as an ABS board member for her fourth consecutive year. Tamara is a previous PTA member, who completed four years in office. Throughout her years with ABS, Tamara was sure to remain active, keeping her agenda as busy as possible. She took part in making additions and retouches to the Junior School’s playground. Moreover, Tamara was also a PTA representative in the Trips Committee for two years.
Persistently, Tamara found herself participating in fundraising events, including ticket sales as well as obtaining sponsorships. Tamara is also one to take initiative as she continuously implements new ideas through constant brainstorming, one of which was The Permaculture Plant Concept, a segment of Al Sawsana Award.
Tamara’s responsibilities also covered the athletic department at school, namely the Booster Club, initiated in 2012. The association is a parent run club supported by the Athletic Department to help promote and coordinate the school’s Athletic Activities. The Booster Club Team, Tamara included, revived the Stallions Cafeteria and organized a now-popular school event: the 12-hour marathon.
Tamara’s top priority is to continue to volunteer where possible as well as coinciding with the school’s mission, which is to develop well-rounded and responsible world citizens.
Shahm Al-Wir
Shahm is a Partner of Foursan Group, a leading Middle Eastern private equity firm. Prior to joining Foursan in 2007, Shahm was a Senior Associate with Debevoise & Plimpton in New York, a global law firm.
Shahm is a Director of the Central Bank of Jordan, Sands National Academy and Siniora Food Industries. He is also a Trustee of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the Shoman Foundation. Shahm is also a member of an international advisory board overseeing the Baptism Site Development Zone. Shahm is an attorney admitted to the New York Bar.
Shahm received a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelors of Arts in Government, magna cum laude, from Harvard University.
Zeena Majali
Zeena Majali co-founded Crystel in 2007. The first outsourcing contact center in Jordan, Crystel employs 2,000 Jordanians, providing superior global customer service. Following Crystel’s success, Zeena cofounded “Xina AI,” a company specializing in Arabic speech synthesis and natural language understanding. With ground-breaking artificial intelligence technology, Xina AI has spearheaded the transformation of customer experience in the Middle East.
Zeena earned her Master of Science in Applied Communication Research from Boston University. She was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Board of the Information Technology Association of Jordan, and was the first female Jordanian invited to join the Endeavor Network.
Zeid Bdeir
Zeid Bdeir is an ABS graduate, year 1996. He was the recipient of ECIS award, and was the first ABS student to receive the prestigious Gold Award of the then pioneering Crown Prince Award, which is today known as the El Hassan Youth Award, akin to the Duke of Edinburgh International Award.
He went on to receive his bachelor›s degree in Civil Engineering, and Minor in Construction Engineering & Management from McGill University. He continued with a Master›s degree in Engineering from the same University. Due to his participation in the Varsity rowing team, he was placed on the Student-Athletic Academic Honor roll.
Zeid currently works in the Construction industry, and is a certified Passive-House designer. Beyond construction he has various other interests and enjoys spending time with his family.
